If you’re looking for one of the best places to have a wedding in Pittsburgh, it doesn’t get much more Yinzer than the Heinz History Center! Kylie & Deklyn celebrated their big day with every Pittsburgh staple or icon you could think of surrounding them, as well as their closest friends and family. The Heinz History Center is in the heart of the Strip District, and has a hotel right across the street, which makes the transition between getting ready and getting to the venue very easy. It also helps you save some money with any extra travel costs like a shuttle or bus service!
Kylie & Deklyn met up for their first look, and the lighting in one of the hallways was absolutely perfect! It was tucked away from the museum visitors, too, so they still had a private moment for it. The coordinators with the venue were so helpful, and made sure none of the museum guests would walk through and interfere. Honestly, the staff at the Heinz History is another reason that this venue is one of the best places to have a wedding in Pittsburgh, they’re some of the best I’ve worked with!
After their first look, we got to explore the museum and take all of their portraits pretty much wherever we wanted. The museum has SO many iconic Pittsburgh references. There’s a mini yellow bridge, a tower of Heinz ketchup bottles, and a world map on the floor of all the places Heinz is sold. Deklyn and his family are from Australia, so we naturally had to get a photo of the two on them standing there!
After portraits, it was time to wrangle everyone together for family photos and wedding party photos. The Heinz History Center has a balcony outdoors that overlooks some of the city & the Strip District. It’s so nice to be able to get quite literally every photo needed in the same venue!
The ceremony was held on the main floor of the museum, and Kylie’s mom made all of the floral arrangements herself- they are BEAUTIFUL! She even offered to let myself and my second shooter take home a bouquet to give to our mom’s for Mother’s Day!
After all the formalities of the day, Kylie & Deklyn were ready to PARTYYYY! Their first dance and parent dances were great, but we were all teary eyed when Kylie took a moment shoutout her mom for all the hard work she did, and then pulled her from the crown to gift her with her bouquet. I love this idea instead of doing a traditional bouquet toss! I also highly recommend Loyalty Entertainment if you’re looking for a DJ who really brings the party vibes. The emcee was hype, they offer a photo booth, and they have a member of their team who gets down on the dance floor so your guests don’t feel too intimated to initiate it themselves!
I still can’t say enough great things about the Heinz History Center- its so accommodating, for both the couple and your guests. It’s indoors, which is really nice to have for the winter, or the summer for some AC or in case of rain– which is always a possibility with a Pittsburgh wedding. If you’re still looking for a venue for your Pittsburgh wedding, though, another favorite spot of mine that also happens to be in the Strip District is The Art Room!
And if you’re planning a wedding in Pittsburgh and still need a photographer, I would love to chat!
